As you may already be aware, Active Fitness was evicted from our location on May 4, 2015 by the landlord.

We unfortunately had absolutely no notice this was happening.

All of you deserve to know what happened, and why.

In the winter, for 4 months the landlord had agreed to charge us half rent on the 1st, and half on the 15th, to help us because of all the construction they were doing, and the lost revenue because of this (approximately $100,000).

Unfortunately they did not charge us on the 15th, and it was never caught until a few months later.  Because of the mounting losses in revenue, we did not have the money to pay them it, and was working on refinancing the gym, or selling to one of two interested buyers.  The landlord received a letter of intent from one of the interested parties last week, and the plan was to finalize the sale within the next 10 days.

Our rent was paid up until April, and we were working on May, which was common.

We were given no notice of 'pay up or else', and this came as a shock to all of us.

With the outstanding money owed, plus now the bailiff's fees on top of this, we are dealing with an amount that is way above what we can afford to pay, and unfortunately we will not be reopening Active Fitness.  In the past 12 years, ownership has lost approximately $1 million dollars in trying to make it work.

We are trying to work with a company that may be interested in taking over our space, and hope to know more as soon as possible.

We are very sorry for this happening, and again we fully did not anticipate anything like this happening.
